Ode to my Valentine

I look into your eyes of steel blue and I see your soul looking back at me, smiling. Your hair is glowing with silver irredescent lights reminding me how long your spirit has graced this world And I count my blessings for the love we share, so priceless and rare. You reach over to pull me close like sweet sixteen lovers and we are dancing in the moonlight on the beach again, without a care ...it's just you and me and the moonlight, waves engulfing us in their power as our hearts beat in unison. My mind slips away to beautiful timeless places as your strong arms balance me tenderly, our step gliding in the sands of earth and time.

A Narrow Chasm that leads to Antiquity

The narrow rock spires reaching its endless peaks to heaven in wanton of the escaping sun. Shadows in the narrow passageway from desert valley to hidden ancient city below keep the rocky earth cool to the touch as hands gently kiss it as they pass. A glimpse of pink rock flirts with the sojourners' eyes through the narrow dark cleft, inviting souls to partake of her rosy hue and warmth. But do not hasten your journey into this hidden world. Rather, enjoy the mystery the shadows whisper of hidden tales from countless ages. Drink from the cup of wisdom that echoes from ancient souls whose imprint is indelibly etched into the spiring stone.

Mysterious Ocean Night Spirits

moonrise opens portal At night when the sun sets a new world appears. Magical spirits unveil their forms in faded moon or sunlight. They are shy and only show themselves to those who are daring enough to flirt with night’s portal, the doorway to other worlds. Walk to a vantage point safe enough from crashing waves to watch and wait. I like to choose a high point on a cliff so I can look down and far out onto the water but still see the sun, moon and stars in all their glory. As soon as the sun drops below the horizon the moon gives its farewell kiss as they pass each other in the heavens. It’s at this moment the doorway opens and all the magical spirits enter earth time and space to frolic in the shadows of night.

summer flirting with night orbs

Summer Breeze flirting with the mysterious night spirits at the ocean’s edge. This is one of my secret places where I go to commune with God’s creation and to receive spiritual inspiration. There is only one other person who knows where this secret place is located, and that is my life and travel partner Cephas.

The Eyes of the Beholder

The Eye of the Beholder

Bare rock emanating orange sun rays lures me to its cleft
To the touch its sensation cold yet inviting
The earthen mound taunts me with its hidden voice, bereft
Of mortal tone it cries out in visual ecstasy

A popular quote states that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I've discovered this altruism to be a governing relative truth in my life. The essence of this paraphrased quotation intrigued me so much that I applied it to a scene that attracted both my eyes and my mind and caused me to think of eternal places while on earth. My intrigue led to curiosity that I quelled by searching online for the origin of this quotation. I was delighted to find the original was spoken first by Plato and all paraphrased similes lead back to this profound observation by one of time's leading philosophers.

"Remember how in that communion only, beholding beauty with the eye of the mind, he will be enabled to bring forth, not images of beauty, but realities (for he has hold not of an image but of a reality), and bringing forth and nourishing true virtue to become the friend of God and be immortal, if mortal man may."
-Plato, Symposium

Finding the source of this beautiful sentiment reminds me that poets are philosophers who access the immortal things of God and convey them in rhyme, reason, muse, romance and fantasy for others to consume. I feel inspired once again by all God's creation and I give humble thanks to my Heavenly Father Creator for giving me such a gift to use in mortality.

Choose a Phone that Works Best for your Needs

There are hundreds of phone types, styles and brands so choosing one can be a major decision. If you are looking for a wireless/cordless phone to use at home with clear voice and a strong signal, consider buying a DECT phone. You will get the freedom to roam around the house and immediate area outside without the expense of using your cell phone at home. Several phones can use the same base unit and still maintain a stronger signal. Avoid the frustration of dropped signals and chat away.
